Boys Over Flowers is a South Korean live-action television adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango starring Ku Hye Sun, Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun-Joong of SS501, Kim Bum, Kim Joon and Kim So Eun. It is based on Japanese shōjo manga series, Boys Over Flowers (花より男子, Hana Yori Dango?), written by Yoko Kamio. It premiered on January 5, 2009 on KBS2TV and ended on March 31, 2009 after 25 episodes. The series is the fifth television adaptation of the manga following the Taiwanese Meteor Garden and its sequel Meteor Garden II and the Japanese Hana Yori Dango and its sequel Hana Yori Dango Returns.Episode 1 is So Yi Jeong's Story In this episode Yi Jeong discovers a bouquet of purple flowers in a chair. He takes some polaroids and attaches them to the bouquet, then heads outside, thinking about Ga Eul (these are flashbacks). Once Yi Jung arrives at a door, it opens and a female voice calls out to him, "Sunbae, I'm a little late, right?" He holds out the flower bouquet and asks, "Ga Eul, will you be my flower forever?"
Episode 2 is Song Woo Bin's Story In this episode we see a frustrated Woo Bin confronting a girl despite of the good weather, the girl actually turns him down and he throws the flower to the ground. Later he is surprised by Jun Pyo and Yi Jung at his table. They give Woo Bin a birthday cake.
Episode 3 is Yoon Ji Hoo's Story In this episode there are just flashbacks scenes of Ji Hoo connected to one another. Also, only Ji Hoo was missing when the F4 had the meeting in their classroom. The background music is "Sometime" by the actor himself, Kim Hyun Joong.
Episode 4 is Gu Jun Pyo's Story In this episode Jun Pyo sneaks inside the Shinhwa University kitchen, where, after remembering the cookies that Jan Di made with his face on them, decides to bake cookies with Jan Di faces for her. Woo Bin spots him in the middle of the process, and Jun Pyo, wearing a frilly apron, shoos Woo Bin out. The background song is "My Everything" by the actor himself, Lee Min Ho.
The Character
* Koo Hye Sun: Geum Jan Di is the headstrong daughter of a dry cleaner. While on a delivery run to Shinhwa High School, she saves a bullied student from committing suicide. Jan Di is offered a scholarship to attend the prestigious school, and ends up getting on the bad side of Gu Jun Pyo.
* Lee Min Ho: Gu Jun Pyo is the leader of F4 (the most popular guys at Shinhwa High) and heir to the Shinhwa conglomerate. He torments Jan Di after she stands up to his bullying ways, but ends up falling for her instead.
* Kim Hyun Joong: Yoon Ji Hoo is a member of F4 and grandson of the Korean ex-president. His musical talent catches Jan Di's attention and she begins to develop feelings for him.
* Kim Bum: So Yi Jeong is known as F4's Casanova. He is a skilled potter and his family owns the country's biggest art museum. He ends up falling for Jan Di's best friend, Chu Ga Eul.
* Kim Joon: Song Woo Bin is F4's other playboy. His family runs a large construction company and has important connections to an underground organization, hinted to be the mafia.

* Kim So Eun: Chu Ga Eul is Jan Di's best friend and works with her at the porridge shop. She eventually falls for So Yi Jeong.
* Kim Hyun Joo: Gu Jun Hee is Jun Pyo's elder sister, and one of the only people he listens to. She wants the best for her brother and constantly shows him the error of his ways.
* Lee Hye Yeong: Kang Hee Soo (aka President Kang) is Jun Pyo's mother and President of the Shinhwa company. She vehemently opposes to her son being with Jan Di and does everything in her power to stop them.
* Ahn Suk Hwan: Geum Il Bong is Jan Di's father and a dry cleaner. His friend takes out loans under his name, and as a consequence he is chased by loan sharks.
* Im Ye Jin: Na Gong Joo is Jan Di's mother. She is very money-minded and constantly pressures Jan Di to attract and marry a rich guy.
* Park Ji Bin: Geum Kang San is Jan Di's younger brother and is very technologically inclined.
* Han Chae Young: Min Seo Hyun is Ji Hoo's first love and a famous Korean model. He is still hung up on her when Jan Di develops feelings for him.
* Lee Min Jeong: Ha Jae Kyung is a successful CEO's daughter and ends up being Gu Jun Pyo's fiancee. Although the engagement was arranged by their parents, she develops feelings for him.
* Lee Jung Gil: Yoon Seok Young is the ex-president of Korea and Yoon Ji Hoo's grandfather. He believes that he caused Ji Hoo's parents' fatal car accident and has been too guilt-ridden to face his grandson ever since.
* Jung Ho Bin: Jung Sang Ruk is President Kang's Chief Secretary. He is sympathetic towards Jun Pyo and often helps him out when it comes to Jan Di.
* Lee Si Young: Oh Min Ji is Jan Di's first and only friend when she transfers to Shinhwa High. However, she harbors deep feelings for Gu Jun Pyo and ends up sabotaging Jan Di to get closer to him.
* Gook Ji Yun: Choi Jin Hee (aka Ginger) is one-third of the Mean Girls Trio (Jin Sun Mi).
* Jang Ja Yun†: Park Sun Ja (aka Sunny) is one-third of the Mean Girls Trio (Jin Sun Mi).
* Min Young Won: Lee Mi Sook (aka Miranda) is one-third of the Mean Girls Trio (Jin Sun Mi).
* Im Joo Hwan: So Il Hyun is So Yi Jeong's estranged elder brother. He leaves the family home and abandons Yi Jeong in order to live a normal life.
* Park Soo Jin: Cha Eun Jae is So Yi Jeong's childhood friend and his first love. She winds up teaching pottery and crosses paths with Yi Jeong after disappearing for 3 years.
* Kim Min Ji: Jang Yu Mi is a patient at the same hospital Gu Jun Pyo is admitted to. She pushes her way into Jun Pyo's life by taking advantage of his amnesia.
